Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking a Senior/Staff CPU Physical Design Engineer to own block-level physical implementation for high-performance compute servers in Cambridge, UK. The role is a permanent, onsite position with exposure to next-generation CPU cores and advanced nodes.

You will drive timing closure, collaborate across RTL, architecture, and CAD teams, and help improve PPA through robust design flows and automation.

Qualifications

• Experience in physical design flows from RTL to GDS (Synthesis to Sign-off).
• Hands-on CPU core design on advanced nodes (7nm and below) is advantageous.
• Scripting in TCL, Python or Perl is required.

Responsibilities

• Own or contribute to CPU block implementation from RTL/netlist to GDS.
• Drive timing closure and physical implementation convergence across modes, corners and conditions.
• Debug and resolve complex implementation issues across timing, congestion, clocking, IR drop, power integrity, EM, DRC/LVS.
• Collaborate with RTL, architecture, circuits, CAD, SoC, and post-silicon teams to improve design quality and PPA.
• Develop and enhance physical design flows, automation, and methodologies.
