Job summary

Davies in Bolton is seeking a Costs Negotiator to manage a caseload in the Complex Injury Costs team with 28-35 hours per week.

You will develop cost strategies, negotiate settlements, mentor juniors, and ensure compliance with SRA standards while meeting client SLAs and KPIs.

The role requires strong oral and written communication, experience in detailed assessment, and the ability to work within a fixed-fee structure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months experience in a costs negotiator role.
• Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD.
• Experience liaising with clients and providing advice verbally and in writing.
• Experience of the Detailed Assessment process including Points of Dispute and replies.
• Strong telephone negotiation skills and insurance litigation awareness.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload from receipt to resolution of costs.
• Mentor 2-3 junior costs negotiators.
• Proactively review cases to formulate an initial costs strategy and settlement parameters.
• Prepare points of dispute and consider replies.
• Negotiate costs by telephone and update clients on progress.
• Instruct counsel and attend conferences, hearings, and mediations (remote and in person).
• Ensure compliance with SRA standards and client SLAs/KPIs.
