Job description

Senior Cost Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor - Aviation, London

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to undertake duties on a high-profile aviation project based in west London.

Job Objectives:
  1. Manage the sub-programme contract commercial & cost activities, ensuring the appropriateness and viability of contract commercial information.
  2. Support the procurement process to achieve best value by developing optimal delivery strategies into procurement plans and contract awards, including incentivisation.
  3. Provide advice following tendering or negotiations to enable sound decision-making on supplier selection.
  4. Manage all post-contract commercial activities, supporting the implementation of contract changes, red files, instructed work scope changes (PMIs), and award fee recommendations.
  5. Support contractors in maintaining transparency and data integrity to minimize risks of inaccurate information.
  6. Manage the sub-programme's potential liability through timely responses to all contractor notifications.
  7. Make recommendations to approve applications for payment and proactively manage contractual issues through to resolution, escalating disputes to the client as appropriate.
  8. Evaluate the cost impacts of alternative delivery strategies, including benchmark assessments, prior to implementation.
  9. Provide support and guidance to the Cost & Commercial team as needed.
  10. Ensure all contract close-out activities are performed in line with client contractual requirements.
  11. Support and encourage the development of appropriate sub-programme working practices.
  12. Work in adherence to the relevant client processes and sub-programme working practices.
Qualifications:

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding/experience of:

  • Tendering support, procurement support, target price negotiation, tier 2 procurement and commercial management, contract change (EWN, PMI), valuations, payment, disallowable costs, claims in an NEC environment.
  • Previous airport experience is an advantage.
