Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Birmingham is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Manager/Project Quantity Surveyor to join the construction projects division. You will manage costs, ensure profitability, and deliver exceptional value to clients while mentoring junior staff.

The role requires MRICS or progressive qualification, extensive cost management experience in a consultancy, and strong collaboration with project teams to ensure cost-effective delivery across complex projects in the Birmingham area.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified, MRICS preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrable cost management experience in a consultancy
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and budgets for complex construction projects
• Conduct thorough cost analysis and provide accurate forecasts throughout project lifecycles
• Prepare and analyse bills of quantities, tender documents, and contract agreements
• Manage the procurement process, including vendor selection and contract negotiation
• Perform value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality
• Monitor and report on project financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and stakeholders for cost-effective delivery
• Provide expert advice on contractual and commercial matters
• Implement and maintain cost control systems and procedures
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to department growth
