Job summary

Rivan Industries in the United Kingdom is expanding its controls systems team to deploy a fleet of synthetic fuel plant controls. You will own functional safety, manage performance and reliability of deployed systems, and design scalable architectures to move from pilot deployments to thousands of sites.

The role requires hands-on commissioning, fault-finding, and experience with industrial communications and PLC/SCADA patterns.

Qualifications

Lead the design, commissioning, and lifecycle ownership of distributed control systems in hazardous or high‑energy process environments.
Experience implementing safety functions under IEC 61508 (or related standards), including SRS development, SIL verification, and change management.
Delivered systems compliant with LVD, Machinery Directive, CE/UKCA.
IEC 61131-3 (ST/LD/FBD, Codesys), HMI design and development.
Integration and troubleshooting of industrial communications (Modbus TCP/RTU, CANbus, OPC-UA) in multi-device, multi-site systems.
Hands‑on commissioning and fault‑finding experience on complex industrial systems.
Factory automation experience.
Python 3
Solidworks Electrical / ECAD tools.

Responsibilities

Own functional safety for our control systems and ensure compliance with risk controls (HAZOP/HAZID, Cause & Effect, Fault Tree).
Manage performance and reliability of deployed control systems across sites.
Design control architectures that scale from pilot to thousands of deployments.
Standardise PLC, SCADA, and telemetry patterns across sites.
Develop remote diagnostics and fleet-wide monitoring capability.
