Job summary

Premier Technical Recruitment is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a Leicester-based client involved in bespoke automation and robotic systems. The role focuses on writing software, PLC and HMI coding, and delivering machine control solutions for automated machinery projects.

You will design electrical systems, ensure compliance with machinery directives and international standards, and generate detailed electrical documentation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in software design and PLC coding with experience on Omron, Siemens and Allen-Bradley equipment is highly advantageous.
• Degree-level qualification in electrical/electronic engineering or closely related discipline.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK as required.
• Experience in machine control and safety systems, design and documentation to relevant standards and CE marking.

Responsibilities

• Write and develop software for PLC and HMI on automation projects.
• Perform electrical design and create machine control system solutions for automated machinery.
• Develop control and safety systems compliant with machinery directives and standards.
• Create electrical diagrams, BOMs and installation documentation.
• Integrate robotics (SCARA, Delta, 6-axis) and liaise with customers and suppliers.
• Lead projects from design through commissioning, ensuring timescales and budgets are met.
