Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join a confidential energy technology business developing and integrating control strategies for modern power systems. The role spans electrical engineering, controls and software, with applications in battery energy storage, renewable generation, microgrids and hybrid power systems.

You will bring a strong background in PLCs, SCADA and power electronics, with experience in Modbus/OPC communications and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Experience with PLCs and industrial control systems across energy-related projects.
• Familiarity with SCADA platforms and energy management systems.
• Understanding of control system architecture for power electronics.
• Experience with Modbus, CAN, OPC or similar industrial communications.
• Knowledge of inverters, battery energy storage systems and grid integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate controls for complex power systems across energy tech projects.
• Collaborate across electrical, embedded and software teams to deliver robust control solutions.
• Support commissioning and fault finding during deployment and operation.

Senior Controls Engineer

Location: Lancashire / Cumbria border

I'm working on a confidential senior engineering opportunity with a business developing and integrating control technology for modern energy systems.

The work sits across electrical engineering, controls and software, with applications including battery energy storage, renewable generation, microgrids and hybrid power systems.

The ideal background would include a combination of:

• PLC and industrial control systems
• SCADA
• Energy Management Systems
• Control system architecture
• Modbus, CAN, OPC or similar industrial communications
• Inverters and power conversion
• Battery Energy Storage Systems
• Generator and renewable integration
• Microgrid control
• Commissioning and fault finding
• Interfaces between electrical, embedded and software systems

Experience of developing or integrating controls for complex power systems is particularly interesting.

Candidates are likely to come from BESS, power generation, renewables, industrial automation, power electronics or other specialist energy environments.
