Job summary

Logistex in Northampton is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to design, plan and develop PLC control solutions for our automated warehouse systems. You will implement control strategies using Siemens platforms, develop HMI interfaces and contribute to project scoping, timing and cost estimates.

Responsibilities include writing the Functional Design Specifications (FDS), programming PLCs and commissioning on customer sites, coordinating with engineering teams, and helping advance OT cyber

Qualifications

• Expertise in PLC control design and development.
• Experience with OT cybersecurity solutions.
• Ability to prepare technical documentation, FDS, and project plans.
• On-site commissioning of control systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing PLC software, producing Functional Design Specifications (FDS), creating commissioning schedules, and carrying out the commissioning of

control systems on customer sites for Logistex automated warehouse systems.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Controls Engineer:

• To design, plan and develop PLC control solutions
• Assist in the development of OT layer cyber security solutions.
• Produce technical documentation, complete specification, costings and time plan for each assigned project
• Write the FDS for projects as required and co-ordinate with colleagues within Engineering and within Systems to ensure alignment of functionality and interfaces.
• Develop PLC software and HMI code for projects and to commission the software on site
• Provide support to other departments, participate in design planning

Qualifications & Experience needed for the Senior Controls Engineer:

• Expert in Siemens TIA Portal, Simatic Manager, Siemens TIA Safety
• Experience of VFD control, Safety hardware and Barcode readers, Allan Bradley PLC programming
• Knowledge of IEC 61131
• Degree, HND or HNC in Engineering and competent in Windows based systems
