Job summary

Siemens Energy Gas and Power Services in Lincoln is seeking an engineer to own electrical and controls activities for modernising small gas turbines. You will develop schematics, review designs, and ensure compliance with customer requirements while supporting continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with the SGT Senior Specialist and Project teams to troubleshoot during commissioning and optimize performance across the fleet.

Qualifications

Engineering degree or equivalent accreditation in an engineering discipline (control systems, electrical, instrumentation, or software).
Strong ownership of engineering activities and clear communication across teams.
Structured approach to solving complex problems and guiding junior engineers.
Familiarity with change/configuration management tools and project management software.

Responsibilities

Provide direct support to the SGT Senior Specialist, owning electrical and controls engineering activities across projects.
Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and design solutions for turbine upgrades.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements, addressing obsolescence in the fleet.
Lead technical discussions with customers and stakeholders during manufacturing, installation, and testing.
Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation, and lessons-learned within the team.

A Snapshot of Your Day

Join our dynamic Engineering team at Siemens Energy Gas and Power Services in Lincoln, where you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of control and electrical systems for the modernisation and upgrade of Siemens Energy Small Gas Turbines. You will take technical ownership of engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating closely with the SGT Senior Specialist Fire and Explosion Protection engineer. Your expertise will guide the creation of innovative electrical design solutions, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

How You’ll Make An Impact

You will provide direct support to the SGT Senior Specialist, taking ownership of electrical and controls engineering activities throughout projects.
You will develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and design solutions for turbine package modifications and upgrades.
You will ensure compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements while addressing obsolescence issues across the installed fleet.
You will support technical discussions with customers and stakeholders, providing guidance during manufacturing, installation, and testing activities.
You will contribute to continuous improvement efforts, standardisation, and lessons-learned activities within the team.

What You Bring

You hold a degree or equivalent accreditation in an engineering discipline related to control systems, electrical, instrumentation, or software.
You possess strong technical ownership, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple engineering activities effectively.
You have a structured approach to problem-solving and can provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
You are familiar with change/configuration management tools and have experience in project management software.
Experience with gas turbine technology or similar industrial products is advantageous, along with a Systems Engineering approach to product improvement.

About The Team

You’ll join the Engineering team within Siemens Energy Gas and Power Services in Lincoln. The team is responsible for the build, development, and support of industrial HMI systems (hardware and software) used in the modernisation and upgrade of Siemens Energy Small Gas Turbines. You’ll work closely with the Project Execution team to enhance quality and strengthen on-time delivery. You’ll also support Field Service during commissioning by helping troubleshoot and fix issues found during testing. The wider business supports customers worldwide with services that improve the reliability and performance of rotating power equipment across wind, utility, oil & gas, and industrial processing industries.
