Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Controls or Automation Engineer in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role involves taking ownership of complex automation projects, designing and programming PLC/HMI systems, and integrating robotics and servo motion within bespoke machinery.

Offers hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 at home) and a salary up to £60,000. UK and international travel may be required as projects progress.

Qualifications

• Experienced Controls or Automation Engineer with machinery design or systems integration background.
• Strong PLC/HMI experience in industrial automation.
• Knowledge of servo drives, motion control and robotics technologies.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and program PLC and HMI systems for bespoke automated machinery.
• Take technical ownership from initial specification through to commissioning and customer acceptance.
• Develop electrical control designs, schematics and technical documentation.
• Integrate servo drives, motion control, robotics and vision systems into equipment.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure cohesive machine operation.
• Develop control solutions for new machinery and upgrades.
• Support FAT, SAT and site commissioning and travel to customer sites as required.
