Job summary

Safran in Pitstone is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team. You will contribute to the definition, design and development of control systems architecture for high-speed rotating electrical machines used in aircraft propulsion.

With a degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, you will apply MBSE, Matlab/Simulink, Windchill and VHDL experience to deliver system qualification and aircraft certification, while collaborating with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in developing Control Systems Architecture in aerospace or safety‑critical industries.
• Experience with requirements capture software and Windchill PLM.
• Understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience with Matlab/Simulink/Speedgoat for system modelling.
• Technical report writing ability.
• Exposure to VHDL would be beneficial.
• PID Controller experience.
• Understanding of Validation and Verification and HIL.
• Good self-organisation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define control system requirements in a team with the customer.
• Design control system architectures and perform performance analysis.
• Manage system requirements and conduct compliance analysis.
• Make control systems technical decisions and interface with the customer.
• Participate in system test rig design and system testing.
• Prepare documentation to support system qualification and aircraft certification.
• Create project plans and Monthly Execution Plans to meet budget.
• Support business growth by promoting capabilities and assisting responses to RFIs/ROPs.
