Job summary

Safran is looking for enthusiastic engineers to join the Systems Engineering team at the Pitstone Centre of Excellence. You will lead the development of advanced electrical power generation, distribution and propulsion systems for aircraft, from concept through to certification and in-service support.

You will define requirements, develop architectures and oversee integration within a multidisciplinary team, providing technical leadership and customer interfaces on safety-critical programs.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or equivalent field.
  • Experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle (design, integration, verification, validation).
  • Experience on aircraft systems or safety-critical products.
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and processes.
  • Ability to capture and translate needs into clear requirements with stakeholders.
  • Experience leading technical reviews and customer meetings.
  • Familiarity with ARP4754 is desirable; Windchill experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineering work packages to deliver on schedule, budget and quality.
  • Define and manage system requirements with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop system architectures, perform trade studies and support system integration.
  • Oversee subsystem development and ensure requirements flow-down.

The team has expertise in designing and developing electrical systems comprising generators, power conversion, control systems and electric motors for aircraft propulsion.
If you want to help deliver this future, we are looking for enthusiastic and creative people to join our team. The role can be - Inside IR35 Contractor or fixed term employment for 12m with a potential for it to be permanent after this period.
Based at the Centre of Excellence in Pitstone you will work within the Systems Engineering team to lead the development of advanced aircraft electrical power generation, distribution and propulsion systems. Responsible for the full systems engineering lifecycle, you will define, develop, integrate and support innovative electrical systems from concept through to certification and in-service support. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will provide technical leadership, manage customer and stakeholder requirements, oversee system integration and verification activities, and ensure compliance with aerospace standards and certification requirements. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace technologies while engaging closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams to deliver complex safety-critical systems.

  • Oversee subsystem development and ensure effective requirements flow-down and implementation

  • Provide technical leadership, acting as the primary customer interface for system development and performance decisions
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with a range of skills and experience, but we're also keen to help people grow and develop in this role. If you have some or all of the following, we'd love to hear from you:
  • Degree qualified in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Aerospace, Systems or a related discipline) or possess equivalent experience in a relevant technical field
  • Proven experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle, including system design, integration, verification and validation, ideally within electrical power generation, distribution or electrical propulsion systems
  • Experience working on aircraft systems or other complex safety-critical products, with a strong understanding of their development and integration challenges
  • Good understanding of Systems Engineering principles and processes, and their application throughout the product lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to work with customers and stakeholders to capture, analyse and translate needs into clear technical requirements, while building effective relationships
  • Experience leading technical reviews, workshops and customer meetings within the aerospace sector
  • Knowledge and experience of:
  • System architecture definition and decomposition
  • Operational, functional and physical analysis
  • Requirements definition and management
  • System integration
  • Verification & Validation (V&V) planning and execution
  • System implementation and verification
  • Experience using Windchill requirements management tools would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with aerospace systems development standards and processes, particularly ARP4754, is desirable
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
