Job summary

Leeds City Council is seeking a Senior Technical Officer (Contaminated Land) in Leeds to support the Contaminated Land Team. You will assess reports for planning consultations, advise on remediation and contribute to the Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy, including Phase I and Phase II studies.

The role requires IT and GIS skills, a relevant degree, and strong communication abilities. The post offers a permanent contract, 37 hours per week, and a competitive SO2 salary (£38,510–£40,444) with

Qualifications

Degree in earth science, environmental science or chemistry.
MSc in a related discipline is desirable.
Strong understanding of Part 2A and planning duties.
Good IT and GIS skills.
Ability to write clear, concise reports.

Responsibilities

Support day-to-day Contaminated Land Team duties within Environment & Design Group.
Assess planning reports on land contamination and provide written implications for health and environment.
Advise Planning Services on remediation needs and suitable planning conditions.
Contribute to Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy; write Phase I Desk Studies and Phase II investigations.
Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the role.
Deliver high quality customer care and effective communication.
