Job summary

Priory Chelmsford Hospital in Essex seeks an experienced Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership and oversee tailored treatment plans for adults and young people. You will conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, lead MDT collaboration and ensure high standards of care within Priory’s clinical governance framework.

The role requires MRCPsych or equivalent, CCT or equivalent, and GMC Specialist Register inclusion, with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.

Qualifications

• MRCPsych or equivalent qualification and CCT (or equivalent) essential.
• GMC Specialist Register and Section 12(2) approval required.
• Approved Clinician status is essential.
• Demonstrable leadership within a multidisciplinary team and CPD evidence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessments including diagnosis and risk assessment.
• Develop individualised treatment plans for complex mental health conditions.
• Provide medical leadership and clinical oversight; review progress and adjust care.
• Collaborate with MDT to deliver holistic, patient-centred care.
• Lead medication management with monitoring of effectiveness and side effects.
• Contribute to governance, safeguarding, risk management and service development.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and discharge summaries.
• Provide supervision and support to colleagues to ensure safe practice.
