Job summary

Priory Group is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for Eating Disorders at Priory Hospital Chelmsford. The role focuses on leading assessment, tailored treatment plans and delivering high-quality care within a multidisciplinary team.

You will supervise clinical governance, ensure evidence-based practice, manage medications, and contribute to service development while maintaining exceptional patient safety and care standards.

Qualifications

• MRCPsych, CCT and GMC Specialist Register are essential, with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the specialty; ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working and ongoing continuing professional development (CPD).

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessments including diagnosis, risk assessment and development of individualised treatment plans.
• Provide ongoing medical leadership and clinical oversight, review progress and adjust care plans.
• Collaborate with the MDT to deliver holistic, person-centred care and support recovery.
• Lead on medication management and prescribing with monitoring of effectiveness and safety.
• Contribute to clinical governance, safeguarding, risk management and service development.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure continuity of care.
• Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, involving them in decisions.
• Provide clinical supervision to colleagues within the MDT to maintain high clinical standards.
