Job summary

William James Recruitment is seeking a Senior Associate or Principal Associate to join its Contentious Construction team in Manchester. The role focuses on high-value disputes for developers, contractors and funders, spanning adjudication, arbitration and Court proceedings.

You will help grow the practice, mentor junior lawyers, and work with colleagues across commercial, real estate and projects teams to deliver integrated client solutions while maintaining a strong commitment to career

Qualifications

• Strong technical expertise in handling complex, high-value construction disputes.
• Experience in adjudication, arbitration and High Court litigation.
• Manages matters from inception to resolution with strategic planning.
• Delivers commercially focused advice with sound judgment.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
• Contributes to business development and growth initiatives.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Qualified Solicitor at Senior Associate or Principal level.

Responsibilities

• Support the growth of the Contentious Construction team.
• Build relationships across construction, infrastructure, development and public sectors.
• Originate and support new business opportunities in construction disputes.
• Contribute to team strategy and market engagement.
• Advise on disputes including adjudications, arbitrations and Court litigation.
• Collaborate with other practice groups to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Mentor junior lawyers and manage matter delivery and KPIs.
• Manage matter financials, billing, and profitability.
