Job summary

Vax is seeking a Lead Advanced Development Engineer to spearhead the creation of future technology and product concepts. You will lead front-end development, transform consumer insights into demonstrators, and de-risk concepts for NPD while remaining hands-on.

You will mentor engineers, drive technical direction, and coordinate with Design Research, Industrial Design and Electrical Engineering to deliver integrated concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Product Design or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s advantageous).
• 8+ years experience in Advanced Development, Concept Engineering or innovative consumer product development.
• Experience leading concept development and technical work packages.
• Strong systems thinking to translate consumer needs into robust solutions.
• Excellent CAD capability and rapid prototype development.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of innovative product concepts, enabling technologies and system architectures.
• Translate design and market research into practical engineering solutions and proof of concepts.
• Collaborate with Product Management to assess commercial strength and targets.
• Define and execute de-risking plans with rapid prototyping and experiments.
• Plan and lead technical work packages, identify risks and dependencies.
• Lead design reviews and ensure decisions are evidence-based.
• Present concise technical updates to stakeholders, including progress, risks and costs.
• Rapidly build prototypes and demonstrators to validate concepts for user testing.
