Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems (Europe) Ltd in the UK seeks a Component Manager to lead technical sourcing, design reviews and supplier engagement from Ystradgynlais. You will manage a team, coordinate cross-functional activities, and drive value engineering with travel to customer and supplier sites as needed.

The role requires an engineering degree, 10+ years in D&D within an industrial setting, and fluent English. French is desirable.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree.
• International profile including management of local and remote teams.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in D&D functions, in an industrial environment.
• Highly specialized knowledge of automotive technology, processes and products (wiring components) for long-term development.
• Fluent English required; French language desired.

Responsibilities

• Specifying technical elements to purchasing for quotations and supplier selection.
• Organizing design reviews and assembly mockups with customers and suppliers.
• Monitoring development, feasibility, costs and schedules with travel to sites.
• Analyzing lessons learned and implementing action plans per requirements.
• Updating drawings, manuals and PSW documents for customer qualification.
• Work with customers to assess feasibility and justify changes.
• Lead VAVE and inter-project synergy initiatives.
• Provide technical support to Sumitomo teams, suppliers and customers.
• Mentor junior team members; supervise tasks and development.
• Report on own activities and team progress.
• Oversee a team including performance reviews, workload, leave, recruitment.
• Support growth of activities and collaboration with engineering groups.
