Talented, enthusiastic, and ambitious Senior Compliance Manager to join our Senior Management Team based at Alfreton, with travel across the UK.

Job Title: Senior Compliance Manager

Location: Alfreton, off J28, M1

Hours of work: Full time, 5 days per week

Rate of pay: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Compliance Manager to join our management team in our waste and recycling company. This active and challenging role requires an organized and proactive individual to manage the Compliance team, ensuring contractual and legislative obligations are met.

The Role:

Are you passionate about environmental and health & safety compliance and maintaining high standards?

You will oversee legislative requirements across our locations and manage our Management System, collaborating with internal stakeholders and leading a small team to:

  • Uphold health & safety practices
  • Meet environmental permit conditions
  • Maintain and develop the Waste Company’s Management System
  • Oversee internal and external audit programs

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure safe working practices and compliance with health and safety legislation, supporting our Health and Safety Advisors
  • Ensure permitted facilities operate according to permit conditions
  • Complete compliance tasks within agreed timeframes
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with audit requirements
  • Manage submission of Waste Returns to the Environment Agency
  • Handle permit applications, transfers, variations, and waste carrier registrations
  • Act as the main contact for communication with the Environment Agency
  • Manage permit reviews, working plans, fire prevention plans, and other EA requirements
  • Maintain and develop the Management System and support audits against ISO standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve company objectives and personal targets
  • Build effective relationships with the management team, colleagues, and external parties
  • Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards
  • Foster a culture of safety, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
  • CoTC qualification (desirable but not essential; relevant experience considered)
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (desirable but not essential; relevant experience considered)
  • Flexibility for travel between sites
  • Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and/or 45001
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Valid UK Driving License
