Job summary

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Community Midwife (Band 6/5 depending on experience) to join our maternity services across the Dudley area. The role involves providing continuity of care antenatally and postnatally in the community, with on-call cover for homebirth, and progression to Band 6 after competencies are achieved.

This fixed-term, part-time post (30 hours/week, 2 years) offers development opportunities within a supportive, innovative team focused on high-quality care

Qualifications

• RM
• Evidence of undertaking or completing a recognised course in teaching and assessing
• Educated to 1st degree level or evidence of study at degree level
• Evidence of successful completion or willingness to undertake: Newborn Infant Physical Examination course
• Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification
• Experience of close liaison with multidisciplinary team
• Ability to demonstrate leadership, negotiating and influencing skills
• Community midwifery experience
• Evidence of having developed team working skills and implemented teamwork practices
• Knowledge of clinical audit and effectiveness systems

Responsibilities

• Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care.
• Mentorship, leadership, and supervision of student midwives and support staff.
• Lead/link role for the unit/department as determined at appraisal.
• Ensure continuity of care and support for women antenatally and postnatally in the community.
