Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a SETDAB Senior Communications Officer for the Southend, Essex and Thurrock Domestic Abuse Partnership Board. The role leads internal and external communications to support the Domestic Abuse Strategy and handles politically sensitive projects.

The position is hosted by Essex County Council with hybrid working; some travel may be required across Southend, Essex and Thurrock. Fixed-term/secondment until 31 March 2028, visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• Educated to RQF level 6 (Degree) or equivalent by marketing/communications experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, writing and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
• Proven project management experience in a multi‑disciplinary field within marketing/communications.
• Experience in a political environment and understanding of Local Government.
• Demonstrable understanding of communications channels including print, media and e-communications.
• Proven experience in an internal communications environment for a large multi‑disciplinary organisation.
• Evidence of ability to develop and sustain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work at pace and under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and advising SETDAB via the Communications Sub Group on all public and professional communications and engagement activity.
• Managing events and conferences organised by SETDAB, working with partners for effective delivery.
• Managing SETDAB media engagement.
• Managing SETDAB web-based and social media activity.
• Co‑ordinating and managing stakeholder communications.
• Delivering partnership communications functions for SETDAB.
• Developing, monitoring and evaluating communications activities.
