Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a SETDAB Senior Communications Officer to lead internal and external communications for the Domestic Abuse Strategy. The role is hosted by ECC and requires travel across Southend, Essex and Thurrock along with a valid driving licence or alternative transport.

The position offers hybrid working with some home-working and attendance in the Chelmsford office as needed. It is available as fixed term or secondment until 31 March 2028, with closing date 30 September

Qualifications

• Educated to RQF level 6 (Degree) or equivalent by marketing/communications experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, writing and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
• Proven project management experience in a multi-disciplinary field within marketing/communications.
• Experience in a political environment and understanding of Local Government.
• Knowledge of communications channels including print, media and e-communications.
• Experience in internal communications for a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
• Ability to build and sustain diverse stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support SETDAB via the Communications Sub Group on public and professional communications and engagement activities.
• Manage events and conferences organised by SETDAB with partners for effective delivery.
• Oversee SETDAB media engagement and web/social media activity.
• Coordinate and manage stakeholder communications.
• Collaborate to deliver partnership communications functions for SETDAB.
• Develop, monitor and evaluate communications activities.
• Meet annual targets within the performance framework.
