Senior Commercial Underwriter - New Business

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a diligent Insurance Commercial Underwriter to join our New Business team as a Senior Commercial Underwriter. You will evaluate and assess complex risks across various business classes, including Motor Trade, Farm, Estates, and Commercial Select products. You will also be a point of referral for less experienced team members, train, coach, mentor, and provide technical support to stakeholders. Additionally, you will support process improvements, deliver projects, and activities.

At NFU Mutual, we operate a unique tied agency network. As an Underwriter, you'll build strong relationships with our Agents, resolve complex referrals, and manage insurance risk costs effectively while delivering excellent service to our members.

We provide a comprehensive induction, requiring full-time presence in the office for the first 6 months. Ongoing training will support your career growth.

Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, between 8am and 6pm.

About you

You will be an experienced Commercial Underwriter with extensive new business underwriting experience in property and liability across mid-market businesses. You should be resilient, an effective communicator, and able to establish strong relationships and influence risk decisions. Key requirements include:

• Property & Liability Commercial Underwriting experience in mid-market
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and training colleagues
• Confident in leading and influencing risk decisions
• Ability to make rational decisions in a fast-paced environment
