Job summary

Omexom UK is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial performance on major construction and engineering projects. You will oversee budgets, manage subcontractors, and liaise directly with clients to protect profitability.

You will mentor junior surveyors, ensure compliance with NEC3/NEC4 and JCT contracts, and collaborate with project teams across design and site meetings. Strong Excel and stakeholder skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related construction discipline.
• Chartered status with RICS or CICES, or actively pursuing.
• 5+ years in commercial management or quantity surveying.
• Experience leading commercial and financial aspects of large-scale projects.
• Advanced knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 and JCT contracts.
• Strong cost estimating, value engineering, final accounts, and managing subcontractor packages.
• Ability to monitor risks and maximise returns.
• Experience mentoring and leading junior surveyors and broader teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management for disputes and negotiations.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and feasibility studies at various design stages.
• Analyse project designs and materials to propose cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality.
• Produce regular CVRs and forecasting cash flows to ensure profitability.
• Prepare tender documents, analyse contractor bids, and evaluate supplier pricing.
• Procure, negotiate, and formalise subcontractor orders and service agreements.
• Ensure contract compliance and manage notices, extensions of time, and claims.
• Submit payment applications and ensure cash collection aligns with contract terms.
• Identify, price, and negotiate changes to the project scope to maximise returns.
• Prepare and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Mentor and provide technical support to trainee or junior quantity surveyors.
• Assist commercial managers with daily operations and deputise when needed.
• Represent the company in design team and site meetings as the main commercial contact.
