Job summary

Omexom is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the United Kingdom (Scotland) to lead commercial management on construction and engineering projects. You will oversee budgets, valuations, final accounts, and subcontractor accounts, while mentoring junior surveyors and liaising with clients.

The role requires Chartered status or active pursuit, strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 and JCT contracts, and advanced Excel skills for effective cost control and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Chartered status with RICS or CICES, or actively pursuing.
• 5+ years’ hands-on experience in commercial management or as a quantity surveyor.
• Experience leading commercial/financial aspects of large construction or civil engineering projects.
• Advanced knowledge of standard industry contracts and cost control.
• Strong MS Excel skills and ability to manage subcontractor packages.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, cost plans, and feasibility studies.
• Analyse designs and materials for cost-saving opportunities.
• Produce CVRs and forecast cash flows to ensure profitability.
• Prepare tender documents and evaluate bids and pricing.
• Negotiate and formalise subcontractor orders and service agreements.
• Ensure contract compliance and manage notices, extensions of time, and claims.
• Submit progress applications and manage cash collection.
• Price changes to project scope and resolve disputes.
• Prepare final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Mentor junior surveyors and support commercial managers.
