Job summary

Cowi is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to provide senior commercial and contractual leadership across projects, bids and portfolios in a hybrid office/home model across Glasgow, London, York, Derby or Bristol. You will lead pre-contract strategy, contract review and negotiation, and post-contract administration to identify and manage contractual and commercial risk from bid to close-out.

The role requires extensive NEC3/NEC4 experience, with familiarity of FIDIC, and the ability to question

Qualifications

• Senior level contracts/ Commercial management experience in engineering consultancy or infrastructure.
• Extensive pre-contract experience: procurement, contract review, risk strategy.
• Practical NEC3/NEC4 experience; familiarity with FIDIC.
• Ability to interrogate scope, programme, interfaces and commercial mechanisms.
• Post-contract management experience including changes and disputes avoidance/resolution.

Responsibilities

• Manage pre-contract and bid inputs including ITTs, proposed contract terms, scopes, pricing, commercial mechanisms, and procurement strategies.
• Review contracts to identify commercial, contractual, programme liabilities and delivery risks at project/portfolio level.
• Advise bid and project teams on risk allocation, qualifications, departures, assumptions and commercial strategy.
• Develop procurement and contracting strategies, including route to market, packaging, risk allocation and commercial models.
• Draft, review and negotiate consultancy and sub-consultancy agreements across standard forms.
• Lead or support contract negotiations with clients, partners and supply chain; escalate material risks.
• Prepare tender and contract documents and support tender evaluation, clarification and negotiation through to contract award.
• Provide post-contract commercial and contractual management including change control, variations, notices, early warnings, payments, interfaces, claims and disputes.
• Establish contract mobilisation and controls; ensure obligations, deliverables, notices and risk ownership are understood.
• Act as trusted adviser to clients, project managers, finance and legal teams; contribute to governance and capability development.
