Job summary

SGN, a utility company delivering warmth and safety, seeks a Lead Commercial Manager in Glasgow or Edinburgh. This full-time, hybrid role reports to the Head of Commercial Management and offers scope to engage with senior stakeholders and shape long-term contracts.

You will lead a team of procurement and commercial professionals, drive value-engineering initiatives, manage NEC3/4 and bespoke contracts, and develop tender documentation while collaborating across Legal, Operations and Finance.

Qualifications

• Background in Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Commercial Management or Law.
• Degree level education desirable but not mandatory.
• Innovative commercial thinking for a regulated environment with high-quality procurement service to senior stakeholders.
• Experience meeting tight deadlines under pressure while delivering quality output.
• Ability to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel across our Southern network to meet stakeholder and supplier demands.
• IT skills including MS Office and Purchase to Pay systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial management of long-term and strategic contracts.
• Lead and grow a team of procurement and commercial professionals.
• Enhance existing commercial processes to ensure robust management.
• Introduce value engineering initiatives to drive value and efficiency for SGN and their supply chain.
• Develop and lead teams to deliver sustainable contract strategies.
• Manage contract administration across NEC3/4 and bespoke agreements on construction projects.
• Develop tender documentation to support successful project delivery.
• Liaise with Legal, Operations and Finance.
• Contribute to reporting on commercial performance for directors and stakeholders.
• Understand varying contract risk profiles and mitigation measures.
