Job summary

CMA Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst for a multi-site leisure group on the south coast, based in Southampton with site travel. The role focuses on understanding drivers of performance, budgeting, forecasting and business partnering beyond month-end.

You will report to the Financial Controller and collaborate with the FD and operational leaders, shaping reporting and BI dashboards to enhance decision-making.

Qualifications

• Qualified, part-qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience.
• Background in management accounting, FP&A, commercial finance or business partnering.

Responsibilities

• Produce commercial and financial reporting by site and revenue stream, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities across occupancy, pricing, yield, margin and cost.
• Own the budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning process.
• Business partner operations, infrastructure, property and central teams, providing insight and challenge.
• Build scenario, pricing and margin analysis to support commercial decisions.
• Create and run a weekly/monthly performance pack for the board and senior leadership team.
• Manage the CAPEX forecast tracker, covering phasing, approvals and cash flow.

Job description

Some people hate month end. This role doesn't have one.

A multi-site leisure group on the south coast has created a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst position to work out what's driving performance across its sites and put that in front of the people who run them. No journals, no close. Reporting, forecasting, business partnering and a heavy CAPEX side, with several seven-figure development projects live or in planning.

Reporting isn't automated yet and the BI capability in the ERP hasn't been switched on, so you'd shape how the business reports rather than inherit someone else's set-up. The brief is simple: finance needs to answer "why", not just "what".

You'll report to the Financial Controller, work closely with the FD and operational leaders, and spend time on site to understand what actually happens beyond the numbers. It suits a management accountant ready to step out of month-end as much as an existing analyst or business partner.

What will the Senior Commercial Finance Analyst role involve?

• Produce commercial and financial reporting by site and revenue stream, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities across occupancy, pricing, yield, margin and cost
• Own the budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning process, testing assumptions with site and department heads
• Business partner operations, infrastructure, property and central teams, providing insight and challenge
• Build scenario, pricing and margin analysis to support commercial decisions
• Create and run a weekly/monthly performance pack for the board and senior leadership team
• Manage the CAPEX forecast tracker, covering phasing, approvals and cash flow, and monitor project spend against budget
• Build CAPEX business cases with payback analysis, sensitivities and recommendations, and report on service charge recovery against maintenance projects
• Lead the set-up of BI dashboards and drive improvement across finance reporting and processes.

Suitable Candidate for the Senior Commercial Finance Analyst vacancy:

• Qualified, part-qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience - the business is open on this and will prioritise commercial ability and systems skills
• Background in management accounting, FP&A, commercial finance or business partnering. Management accountants who've done the analysis and want out of month-end are as relevant as existing analysts and business partners
• Multi-site, leisure, hospitality, property or asset-based experience is useful but not essential
• Advanced Excel. Power BI or similar is a strong advantage; the appetite to build it is essential
• Comfortable explaining numbers to non-finance people and confident enough to challenge senior stakeholders
• Proactive, curious about what's behind the numbers, and able to manage competing priorities at pace
