Job summary

Cognisant has appointed a Commercial Director for a privately owned residential developer. The role covers budgets, forecasts, procurement strategy and risk management across live schemes and future projects in London and the South East.

The successful candidate will lead a lean senior team, own cost-to-complete reporting and provide board-level commercial reporting and advice. The candidate will need a strong residential development background, with experience in appraisals, contracts and

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of residential development from a commercial perspective.
• Experience spanning procurement, cost control, contracts, development appraisals and project delivery.
• Comfortable leading a lean senior team and taking ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial function across the portfolio.
• Own budgets, forecasts, CVRs and cost-to-complete reporting.
• Set procurement strategy and lead major package negotiations.
• Maintain control of commercial and contractual risk.
• Challenge costs and protect margin.
• Provide commercial input into new sites and development appraisals.
• Work closely with Development, Technical and Construction teams.
• Develop the commercial team and supporting processes.
• Provide clear commercial reporting and advice to the Board.
