Job summary

Dover Precision Components, part of Dover Corporation, seeks an experienced CNC Setter/Operator at our Glasgow, UK facility. You will operate diverse CNC machines to produce precision fluid‑film bearings, seals and isolators for turbo and industrial machinery across Europe.

The role requires a time-served machining apprenticeship or SVQ/NVQ L3 or an HNC in Mechanical Engineering, with at least five years of CNC experience.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in a machining discipline or SVQ/NVQ level 3 or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CNC machine tools within a lean-manufacturing environment
• Established milling, grinding or turning experience with multi-axis machine tools (Correa and/or Doosan or similar)
• Experience with machine control systems such as Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain or Haas
• Proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances (<0.0025mm)
• Experience with precision inspection equipment (micrometres, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges)
• Ideally experience in power generation, oil & gas, aerospace or similar environments

Responsibilities

• Read process sheets, blueprints and sketches to determine machining requirements
• Locate and download programmes from a DNC storage system
• Interpret work instructions and select proper tooling
• Calculate feeds and speeds for various steel grades
• Read, edit or write complete CNC programs
• Understand tooling and machinery capabilities
• Perform quality inspections and ensure product compliance
• Apply Lean Manufacturing to reduce setup times and boost productivity
• Visually inspect final components
• Package parts for shipment
• Perform finishing duties to ensure free movement of parts
