Job summary

Optima UK Inc Ltd in Rugby is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Programmer to join a specialist engineering business. You will program, set and operate CNC milling machinery, producing high-precision components from detailed drawings and customer specifications.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in CNC milling, strong programming and setting skills, experience with Fanuc controls, Mill+ and 4-axis machining. The role is a permanent, day-shift position offering a salary of £36,000–£39,000 DOE.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in CNC milling.
• Strong CNC programming, setting and operating experience.
• Proven experience writing and editing CNC programmes.
• Good knowledge of Fanuc controls.
• Experience using Mill+.
• Previous experience with 4-axis machining.
• Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining processes.
• The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
• Excellent problem-solving and technical skills.
• The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
• Good communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
• Creating, editing and optimising CNC programmes
• Working confidently with G-code based controls
• Programming directly at the machine where required
• Working with Fanuc controls and Mill+
• Programming and machining 4-axis components
• Setting and running jobs through from initial setup to completion
• Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
• Selecting appropriate tooling and machining strategies
• Producing components to tight tolerances and specified quality standards
• Carrying out in-process inspection and quality checks
• Identifying and resolving machining or programming issues
• Making programme adjustments to optimise machining processes
• Working independently and taking ownership of assigned work
