Job summary

Major Recruitment Coventry is recruiting a Senior CNC Miller for our Loughborough shop, specialising in aerospace components. The role is full-time and permanent with a day shift and an early finish every Friday.

You will set and operate Doosan machining centres, using Fanuc and Heidenhain controls, and act as Team Leader cover to support workshop operations while maintaining tight tolerances and strict quality records.

Qualifications

• Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00
• Friday: 07:00 - 13:00

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior CNC Miller to join our precision engineering team based in Loughborough, specialising in high-precision components for the aerospace sector. Operating on a straight permanent basis, this role offers an excellent work-life balance with a desirable day shift and an early weekend finish.As a Senior CNC Miller, you will work to the safety-critical standards demanded by the aerospace industry. Crucially, you will also act as the designated Team Leader cover, stepping up to oversee workshop operations, manage workflow, and support the team during the Team Leader's absence.

Key Responsibilities

• Aerospace Machining: Set and operate CNC Milling machines to produce high-precision, safety-critical components for aerospace applications.
• Machinery & Controls: Work confidently on Doosan machining centres using both Fanuc and Heidenhain control systems.
• Leadership Cover: Step into the Team Leader role during absences, managing shop floor activities, maintaining productivity, and supporting the team.
• Precision Engineering: Read and interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings and work instructions to manufacture parts to exceptionally tight tolerances.
• Quality & Compliance: Conduct rigorous in-process inspections using micrometers, verniers, and gauges to ensure full compliance with aerospace quality standards.

Requirements & Experience

• Aerospace Background: Proven experience as a Senior CNC Miller within an aerospace or highly regulated precision engineering environment.
• Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency setting and operating Doosan machinery with extensive knowledge of Fanuc and Heidenhain controls.
• Leadership Capability: Prior experience in a supervisory capacity or a clear aptitude and willingness to step up and lead a team.
• Quality Focus: Thorough understanding of tight tolerances, traceability, and strict quality documentation standard in aerospace manufacturing.
