Job summary

Pact Engineering, a long-established, family-owned precision engineering company, is seeking a skilled CNC Miller to join a tight-knit machine shop in Luton. The role involves programming, setting and operating 3, 4 and 5 axis milling machines to produce high‑quality components to tight tolerances.

You will read complex engineering drawings, use modern inspection equipment to verify part quality, and work independently or in a small, collaborative team, with regular overtime and ongoing training

Qualifications

• Experience programming, setting or operating 3,4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Competent with modern inspection equipment for quality verification.
• Willingness to train on HEIDENHAIN controls.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a small team.
• Fork-lift experience is advantageous but not essential.

CNC Miller

Salary: £18 £21 per hour, depending on experience

Location: Luton, Bedfordshire

Working pattern: Full-time, permanent 40 hours (Monday to Thursday 8am 5pm, Friday 8am 2pm)

As our order book continues to grow, we're looking for a skilled CNC Miller to help us deliver the standards our customers expect.

This suits an experienced CNC Miller, or a capable machinist ready to develop further, who wants to join a stable and well-run machine shop.

What you'll be doing

• Programming, setting and operating 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines
• Producing high-quality components to tight tolerances
• Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings
• Using modern inspection equipment to verify part quality
• Working independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
• Supporting continuous improvement and maintaining our quality standards

What you'll bring

• Experience programming, setting or operating 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines
• Competent CNC programming on HEIDENHAIN controls, or a willingness to train
• Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
• Understanding of the standards required to produce a high-quality finish
• Confidence using modern inspection tools and equipment
• Able to work with minimal supervision and use your initiative
• Fork-lift truck experience or certification is an advantage, but not essential
