Job summary

Matchtech in Manchester is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set and operate 3-, 4- and 5-axis milling machines, producing high-precision components from engineering drawings and production requirements.

You will contribute to a modern manufacturing environment, focusing on quality, safety and continuous improvement while supporting efficient production and problem-solving across shifts.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineer or completed engineering apprenticeship.
• Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
• Experience with 3, 4 and 5-axis machining centres.
• Strong understanding of machining techniques and engineering practices.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
• Understanding of GD&T principles.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• CNC Machine Setting and Operation on 3-, 4- and 5-axis mills.
• Produce first-off components meeting quality requirements.
• Operate machines efficiently while maintaining quality.
• Prepare tooling, fixtures and production documentation.
• Monitor machine performance and carry out routine maintenance.
• Where practical, manage more than one machine.
• Communicate issues to Team Leaders, Engineering and Planning teams.
• Inspect components and verify dimensional accuracy with CNC and manual CMM.
