We seek a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer to join our global client in London, one of the largest and longest-serving independent private equity partnerships.

In this role, the primary focus is on delivering technology initiatives and projects that are strategically driven and centred around Azure cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of successfully achieving results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. They should have the ability to quickly adapt to various technology systems, understanding that the key requirements and dependencies are essential for ensuring successful project delivery.
A deep understanding of Azure-based cloud systems and infrastructures is crucial for success in this position. The candidate must be able to translate business needs into well-documented technical solutions that effectively address those requirements.
The client has recently transitioned its on-premises data centres to the Azure cloud, marking a significant milestone in their cloud journey. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the next phase of this journey, focusing on transforming the migrated infrastructure into a modern, cloud-optimised environment. We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and technical expertise. An assertive approach towards automating services and infrastructure is essential. These qualities are vital for advancing the client's cloud strategy, ensuring their infrastructure remains robust, scalable, and aligned with the latest cloud practices.
Responsibilities:
- Practice continuous improvement and learning, staying aware of trends and changes in technology.
- Manage and maintain current, cloud-based systems.
- Installation and configuration of new systems.
- Maintain and create new system documentation as required.
- Monitor performance and provide proactive remediation of systems.
- Keep systems up to date in line with company standards.
- Ensure security, keeping in line with developed policies and practices.
- Act as a point of escalation to the Service Desk and other IT Functions.
- Design and implement cloud solutions, working to agreed standards and principles.
- Work closely with other internal IT functions, as well as cloud vendors and system integrators.
- Communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with other IT personnel, executives and users.
- Provide an escalation point and technical lead when dealing with critical incidents.
- Have a “can-do” mindset with a strong sense of ownership and follow through with tasks effectively.
- Experience working and supporting development teams, including the creation of cloud-native applications and associated tools.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/technical subject.
- 5 years or greater experience in cloud computing infrastructures.
- Advanced Certification in cloud solutions (e.g., Azure Solution Architect Expert) is preferred.
- Must have previous migration experience of complex environments, including a combination of ‘Lift and Shift’ as well as refactoring in-house developed applications.
- Experience working with Infrastructure as Code is required.
- Strong understanding of emerging cloud technologies and standards.
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including VDI, networking, security, automation technologies, and DevSecOps operating models.
- Appreciation of cloud costs, to meet agreed-upon application standards.
- Strong exposure to DevSecOps tools, e.g GitHub and exposure to CI/CD pipelines, e.g. Jenkins.
- Ability to learn new concepts and carry out technical research.
- Demonstrated ability to gain consensus in a diverse working group that may involve both Information Technology and business leaders across multiple disciplines.
- Understanding of ITIL ITSM methodologies, e.g. Change Management.
- Demonstrated ability to work on complex and diverse technical projects to completion.
- Strong communication skills, collaborating across diverse functional teams.
- Experience drafting and delivering communications to ensure full transparency.
- Achievement-oriented with the ability to be flexible and adaptive.
- Excellent organisational skills, having the ability to prioritise workload whilst being resilient.
- Flexible working hours, along with, ability to work outside normal business hours on an as-needed basis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured thinking process.
- Experience in the Private Equity / Finance industry is preferred.
- Experience in working with global-based teams covering different time zones is beneficial.
Exposure and experience with the following technology...
- Active Directory, Intune Policies, Exchange, and Office 365 Administration.
- Patching and vulnerability management, including certificate management.
- General understanding of traditional and cloud-based networking and associated infrastructure.
- ServiceNow Ticketing System.
- JIRA and Confluence.
- Architecture standards and best practices, e.g. TOGAF, ArchiMate are beneficial.
