Job summary

UBDS Group in Manchester is seeking an experienced Senior Developer to deliver secure, modern digital products and services for Government and Defence. You will work in a multidisciplinary agile team to design, build, test and deploy cloud-based applications and services, primarily within AWS environments.

You will develop with Python and JavaScript, build APIs, work with SQL/PostgreSQL and containerised applications using Docker, GitHub and DevOps practices, and mentor colleagues while

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Python and/or JavaScript.
• Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience developing applications in AWS.
• Experience designing, developing and integrating APIs.
• Strong testing practices and secure development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions.
• Build cloud-based applications and services within AWS.
• Develop solutions using Python, JavaScript and SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Design, build and integrate APIs and services.
• Work with databases, data flows and integrations between systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, secure and testable code.
• Contribute to testing throughout the development lifecycle.
• Use GitHub, Docker and modern engineering and DevOps practices.
• Work closely with Architects, Product, Design, User Research and Testing colleagues.
• Translate user and business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Engage with stakeholders throughout delivery, communicating progress, technical decisions and potential challenges.
• Contribute to technical design, engineering standards and continuous improvement.
• Support and mentor other developers where appropriate.
• Support solutions through development, deployment and live operation.
