Job summary

UBDS Group is seeking an experienced Senior Developer to deliver secure, modern digital products and services across Government and Defence in the UK. You will design, build, test and deploy cloud-based applications within AWS, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will work with Python, JavaScript and PostgreSQL, design APIs, manage data flows and ensure secure, tested software. A SC clearance is required for this assignment.

Qualifications

• Strong software development experience in modern digital environments.
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript.
• Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience developing applications in AWS.
• Experience designing, developing and integrating APIs.
• Solid understanding of software engineering, testing and secure development practices.
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub.
• Experience with Docker and containerised apps.
• Experience in agile, multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to translate user and business needs into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions.
• Build cloud-based applications and services within AWS.
• Develop solutions using Python, JavaScript and SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Design, build and integrate APIs and services.
• Work with databases, data flows and integrations between systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, secure and testable code.
• Contribute to testing throughout the development lifecycle.
• Use GitHub, Docker and modern engineering and DevOps practices.
• Collaborate with Architects, Product, Design and Testing teams.
• Translate user requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Engage with stakeholders, communicating progress and decisions.
• Contribute to technical design and engineering standards.
• Support and mentor other developers.
