Job summary

Back TO Work is seeking a senior Platform & Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and operate secure, scalable Azure infrastructure and CI/CD tooling. You will shape our UK cloud strategy, lead automation and platform engineering practices, and collaborate with multiple teams to deliver reliable software delivery.

You will own complex architectural decisions, drive standards, and mentor teammates while maintaining strong documentation and governance across platforms.

Qualifications

• Proven senior platform, infra or cloud engineering experience.
• Azure design, build and operation across compute, networking and storage.
• Experience designing and improving CI/CD pipelines with GitLab or equivalent.
• Hands-on containerisation and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
• IaC patterns with Terraform; reusable, maintainable code.
• Monitoring/logging/observability expertise (Splunk/Prometheus/Grafana).
• Scripting in PowerShell/Bash; at least one language such as Python or Go.
• Ability to write and review automation code; YAML for pipelines.
• Agile delivery experience; Jira/Confluence proficient.
• Strong communication and documentation skills; non-technical audiences included.

Responsibilities

• Own complex platform and infra initiatives from design to handover.
• Evolve engineering standards; contribute to direction and improvements.
• Lead CI/CD pipeline design and ongoing enhancement.
• Develop reusable Terraform patterns; promote security and maintainability.
• Operate cloud and on‑prem platforms relied on by development teams.
• Foster an automation‑first DevOps culture; collaborate across teams.
• Shape UK cloud strategy with Platform & Infrastructure leadership.
• Provide technical leadership and guide roadmap delivery.
• Design and operate secure, scalable Azure estate and related tooling.
• Establish guardrails, reference architectures, and reusable services.
