Job summary

NHS Dumfries and Galloway is seeking an experienced Clinical Service Manager – Blood Sciences to provide senior professional and operational leadership across our Blood Sciences laboratory services. This permanent, 36-hour per week post sits within the Diagnostics Directorate at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, delivering safe, high‑quality services with a £5.8 million budget and 55 WTE staff.

The role requires HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist, strong leadership, and proven

Qualifications

Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
Significant knowledge and experience of laboratory services within an acute hospital setting.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Experience of managing performance, demand and capacity, service planning and workforce redesign.
A sound understanding of quality governance, accreditation, risk management and relevant laboratory regulations.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day operational management of Blood Sciences services.
Drive performance, workforce planning, finance, quality governance and risk management.
Lead service improvement and delivery of national/local targets.
Operate within a £5.8 million budget and manage staffing across sites.
