Job summary

A leading Teaching NHS Trust is looking for a Senior Clinical Radiology Department Assistant to enhance patient care at the Lister Hospital. Job overview

We are recruiting for a Senior Clinical Radiology Department Assistant who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The post is based at Lister Hospital, but the post holder will be expected to rotate to the New QEII Hospital and cover occasional shifts at Hertford County Hospital as required.

This role involves preparing clinical areas, supporting clinical staff during examinations and procedures and supporting patients both physically and emotionally. There are some administrative and reception tasks in this role.

The post holder will require the knowledge and skills to supervise, support and train the Clinical Radiology Department Assistants within the department. The role will also include cannulation training to support the CT and MRI services.

This is an interesting and varied job working within a friendly hard-working team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated and have previous experience of working as a Clinical Radiology Department Assistant.

Main duties of the job

Qualifications/Training
  • Good general education to GCSE
  • NVQ level 3 in Care or Diagnostic and Support or equivalent experience
Previous Experience
  • Experience as clinical RDA (Band 2) OR similar role
  • Successful and active team worker in multi-disciplinary area
  • Some supervisory experience, including training/ mentoring
  • Previous experience of radiology interventional procedures
  • Previous experience of computer systems including RIS and PACS (radiology information systems)
Skills
  • High level communication skills, within staff team, department and outside agencies at all levels
  • High level skill understanding of customer/ patients’ needs and concern for their welfare
  • Supervisory skills
  • Ability to plan workload
Knowledge
  • Methods of customer care and meeting customer expectations
