West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

Job Overview

The post is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Allied Health Professional to build upon and advance their leadership and managerial skills. The focus of the role is on providing clinical leadership in the development of the new Specialist Older Adults Mental Health (SOAMHS) and to deputise for the team Manager with the day-to-day running of this service.

The focus of the service will be to ensure that patients receive assessment and therapeutic intervention to maximise their independence, safety and wellbeing. The interventions will include education, individual work and group work and will involve working closely with patients, carers, statutory and voluntary agencies, within a multi-disciplinary team. They will hold their own complex caseload of patients.

The post holder will be based in one of the community teams in Ealing and they will be undertaking home visits, meetings at the team base and other community sites.

Qualifications
  • Registered Practitioner (OT, Psychology, nursing) appropriate to the job role
  • Degree/diploma level qualification supplemented by specialist qualification and/or experience.
  • Courses to masters level equivalent relevant to the care group
  • Evidence of post-registration training in relevant service area Completion of student Supervisor Course/equivalent/Practice Educators/
Knowledge
  • Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to service area.
  • Awareness of Trust policies and service specification
  • Knowledge safeguarding both children and adults and patient safety.
  • To understand key performance indicators and how they relate to team.
  • Awareness of regional and national policies and procedures in relation to service area.
  • Awareness of research and development in service areas.
  • NICE guidance and governance procedures in relation to patient safety.
Skills
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with staff, patients, families, carers and professionals
  • Able to manage a caseload of people with complex mental and physical health needs including dementia
  • Able to establish links with other services and professionals.
  • To remain calm under pressure, to contain others emotional distress and anxiety.
