An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Pharmacist based at University Hospital Crosshouse.
We are looking for a suitably experienced pharmacist who is highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic for this role. You will lead, develop, and deliver prescribing and pharmaceutical care to the Ayrshire & Arran Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
You will provide expert advice in pharmaceutical matters, promote safe, clinically effective, and cost-effective prescribing to this patient group in primary and secondary care. Additionally, you will act as an independent prescriber within the CAMHS outpatient setting and liaise with healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
This post will also provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service to child and adolescent patients with mental health disorders within the National Secure Adolescent Inpatient Service (NSAIS) when operational.
You will contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of pharmaceutical services to CAMHS patients, including mental health legislation implementation. You will be accountable for the safe and cost-effective use of medicines and promote local initiatives for medicines management.
You will work closely with the primary care team to identify prescribing indicators, develop joint plans, and ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medicines use. You should have a passion for high-quality patient care and the ability to build professional relationships with the multidisciplinary team and pharmacy colleagues.
You will have a key role within the mental health pharmacy team, requiring strong leadership skills. The role demands autonomous work, innovation, and forward-thinking for service development, requiring self-direction, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication, organizational, and IT skills are essential, along with experience working with patients and healthcare professionals. Previous mental health experience is desirable but not essential.
You must be a qualified pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, an independent prescriber, and hold a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent competence.
The post requires full PVG Scheme membership/Disclosure Scotland.
22.2 hours per week. Candidates new to NHS should expect to start at the entry point of the pay scale.
A full UK/EU/EEA driving licence and car ownership are essential for this role.
