This is a new full-time Senior Clinical Fellow post for 6 months, responding to service needs.
The role is based in the Department of Neurology as a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST3/IMT3 equivalent). The postholder will work alongside neurology trainees and junior doctors, with clinical responsibilities including clerking non-elective patients admitted under neurology, providing clinical support in the day-to-day care and management of neurology inpatients under supervision, and completing discharge summaries. The ability to perform lumbar punctures is highly desirable.
The postholder will participate in the neurology on-call rota, which includes day shifts on Saturdays and Sundays once every six weekends, under supervision of the on-call consultant.
Provision will be made for participation in outpatient neurology clinics. There is a weekly departmental educational meeting and an excellent neuroradiology meeting every Thursday morning discussing inpatient neuroradiology.
Additionally, some GIM work will be undertaken, currently in 2-week blocks in acute medicine, with an expectation of two such blocks within the 6-month period.
Applicants unable to undertake full-time duties will be considered and the job content will be adjusted accordingly in consultation with colleagues and management.
