Job overview
Specialty Trainee / Senior Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine (ST3-7). This is an opportunity for an anaesthetic or ICM speciality doctor or trainee to join the team at Hammersmith Hospital ICU to develop their clinical skills and experience in a tertiary centre. The department fosters a supportive and collaborative environment for junior medical colleagues to grow. The successful candidate will work in a department active in research, academia, teaching, and quality improvement, with opportunities for participation in these activities. The post is suitable for senior clinical fellows seeking to gain or expand clinical experience while developing non-clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
The fellow will join a team of 14 Residents (SHOs) and 8 Middle Grade (Registrars) doctors.
The Registrar rota is a 1 in 7 schedule with prospective cover, including nights and long days. The candidate should have skills equivalent to a speciality trainee in Intensive Care Medicine, including independent airway management.
Shifts run from 08:00 to 18:00 for short days, 08:00 to 21:00 for long days, and 20:00 to 09:00 for nights.
There is scope for the fellow to develop non-clinical skills such as research, Q.I., audit, and education alongside clinical duties.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1) Clinical: Manage ICU patients alongside consultants, conduct ward rounds, review referrals, and support Outreach services.
2) Administrative and governance: Participate in clinical governance activities.
3) Education: Engage actively in postgraduate education programs.
4) Research/Quality Improvement/Non-clinical interests: Opportunities to be discussed post-appointment.
