Job summary

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Urology to join the team. The post is based mainly at King George Hospital with cross-site duties at Queen’s Hospital.

The appointee will work under consultant supervision, contributing to high-quality core urology and stone services and supporting waiting list reduction. The role includes on-call responsibilities and a clear path toward CCT attainment.

Qualifications

• MBBS with GMC full registration and eligibility for specialty training in urology.
• Minimum 2 years urology experience (or equivalent ST3+).
• Experience managing acute urology admissions and audits.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the clinical care of patients in their charge under consultant supervision.
• Deliver a high-quality responsive surgical service within agreed competencies.
• Independently perform emergency procedures including ureteric stent insertion, suprapubic catheterisation and scrotal exploration under consultant supervision.

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Urology to join the team at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. This full-time post will be based primarily at our new Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital, with additional cross-site responsibilities at Queen’s Hospital.

This post is equivalent to a registrar (ST3+ level) service post with independent on-call responsibility under consultant supervision. The service will support the appointee in their career progression, with particular focus on meeting the clinical criteria for CCT.

The successful applicant will join a motivated and expanding team and will be expected to complement the existing workforce, working closely with clinical and managerial colleagues to support the reduction of waiting lists and the delivery of high-quality core urology and stone services

Main duties of the job

Under consultant supervision contribute to the clinical care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of the department.

Deliver a high quality responsive surgical service to the patients who use it within agreed competencies

Independently perform emergency procedures including ureteric stent insertion, suprapubic catheterisation and scrotal exploration under consultant supervision
