An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, proactive team player to join the Urology team as a Patient Pathway Co-ordinator (Admissions Officer) at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and within the Surgery Division.
The ideal candidate would have excellent communication skills, be able to work under pressure and be organised and have good time management skills. The candidate should have an ability to be able to negotiate with colleagues/staff and consultants and able to work with colleagues of all grades.
Our Patient Pathway Co-ordinators (Admissions Officer) take day-to-day responsibility for the administration of Urology diagnostic and elective admissions. This includes managing waiting lists, coordinating admissions, and ensuring patients are seen in a timely way in line with national standards and the Trust’s Patient Access Policy. Ensuring that patients are scheduled for surgery in line with clinical urgency, cancer waiting times and RTT. The role requires good problem solving skills and the ability to priority workload. You will act as a key point of contact for patients and the clinical team, supporting people throughout their pathway so they receive clear information, timely admissions and a positive experience of care.

Schedule elective inpatient, day-case, and diagnostic procedures onto theatre lists in line with clinical priority, waiting time targets, and available capacity.
Prioritise patient bookings to minimise RTT breaches and support achievement of national and Trust waiting time standards.
Monitor waiting lists and identify patients approaching breach dates, taking appropriate action to ensure timely treatment.
Liaise with consultants, clinical teams, theatre coordinators, pre-assessment services, and bed management teams to coordinate admissions and maximise theatre utilisation.
Communicate with patients regarding admission dates, procedure information, cancellations, and changes to appointments in a professional and compassionate manner.
