Job summary

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is offering two Clinical Fellows in Urology. The posts will be based primarily at the Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital with cross-site responsibilities at Queen’s Hospital.

The roles are equivalent to SHO/ST1-2 with on-call duties under consultant supervision, supporting progression toward CCT. The appointees will join a growing team, assist in reducing waiting lists, and deliver high-quality core urology and stone

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective and compassionate care to patients under the supervision of the Consultant Urological Surgeons, maintaining responsibility for the clinical management of patients within their competence and escalating concerns appropriately.
• Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, responsive urology service across both elective and emergency pathways.
• Provide inpatient and emergency urology cover at Queen's Hospital, including the assessment and management of acute referrals and supporting patient flow within the service.
• Participate in the assessment and management of elective and non-elective urology patients in inpatient, outpatient and operating theatre settings.
• Attend outpatient clinics, diagnostic sessions and elective operating lists, with graduated responsibility appropriate to their experience, competence and service requirements.

Job description

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for two Clinical Fellows in Urology to join the team at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. This full-time post will be based primarily at our new Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital, with additional cross-site responsibilities at Queen’s Hospital.

This post is equivalent to a SHO (ST1-2 level) service post with independent on-call responsibility under consultant supervision. The service will support the appointee in their career progression, with particular focus on meeting the clinical criteria for CCT.

The successful applicant will join a motivated and expanding team and will be expected to complement the existing workforce, working closely with clinical and managerial colleagues to support the reduction of waiting lists and the delivery of high-quality core urology and stone services.
