Job summary

Within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department, the post holder will work as part of a team caring for trauma and elective patients across various sub-specialties, including Hands, Shoulder & Elbow, Hip & Knee, and Foot & Ankle.

This role offers the opportunity to work at a registrar level, covering consultant practices and elective procedures, with responsibilities including supervising junior doctors, providing clinical care, and operating on trauma and elective admissions as needed.

Chelsea and Westminster is a centre of excellence for Orthopaedic Sports Surgery, managing professional and semi-professional athletes with unique needs and pressures.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be scheduled for non-resident on-call duties on the middle tier rota, shared among nine doctors, supervising ward rounds, attending sub-specialty clinics, and participating in complex theatre activities. The role offers scope for practice under distant supervision in clinics once comfortable.

The department has established links with Imperial College NHS Trust, our Major Trauma Centre, and West Middlesex University Trust. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is a dynamic, growing unit in West London with a strong teaching and training record, recognized by GMC feedback and awards.

The successful candidate must hold full GMC registration, be proactive, eager to engage, and a team player.

Senior Clinical Fellows in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery

We offer an exciting opportunity within our Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The team includes 12 Consultants, 6 Specialist Deanery Registrars, and 2 Trust Registrar posts.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Training:

• Full GMC registration
• MRCS or FRCS

Knowledge, skills and experience
