Job summary

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Cardiology. Qualifications

  • Experience in paediatric cardiology for at least 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the inpatient treatment of patients with congenital heart disease.

Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Cardiology

The closing date is 22 June 2025

This is a fixed-term post that provides the postholder with exposure to a wide range of paediatric cardiology. There is a possibility that the post could be extended beyond this, depending on staffing levels and the incumbent's career needs. The postholder will gain experience in all areas of Paediatric Cardiology, with the majority of their time dedicated to participating in the clinical service.

Main duties of the job

The main objectives of this post are:

  1. Contribute to the inpatient treatment of patients with congenital heart disease
  2. Provide clinical support alongside other registrars/fellows in outpatient clinics
  3. Participate in clinical and service activities to ensure high standards of patient care
  4. Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training

Evelina London Children's Hospital (ELCH) is the second-largest provider of acute children's services in London. We offer secondary acute services to the local area and a comprehensive portfolio of tertiary services, accepting referrals from other healthcare organisations. We also provide community services to Lambeth and Southwark. Since 1st February 2021, the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals became part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, aiming to create a centre of excellence in heart and lung disease research and treatment.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice (or evidence of eligibility)
  • MRCP or MRCPCH (or equivalent)
  • For NP5 salary point: At least 7 years' experience in clinical/academic medicine OR post-CCT
Clinical Experience & Skills
  • At least 6 months experience of paediatric cardiology
  • Demonstrable experience of congenital echocardiography
  • EACVI accreditation in congenital heart disease
  • At least 6 months experience in general paediatrics or neonatal medicine at registrar/fellow level
Research & Teaching
  • Experience in teaching junior medical staff and allied health professionals
  • Audit, presentations, and delivering teaching related to paediatric cardiology
  • Formal training in teaching methodologies
  • Peer-reviewed publications or presentations at a national level in paediatric cardiology topics
Non-clinical Skills, Leadership & Management
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Responsibility for planning and executing own work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Awareness of and positive attitude towards equal opportunities in healthcare and education
  • Evidence of career progression and medium-term goals
Good Medical Practice
  • Understanding and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice as set by the GMC
