Job description

Job summary

Appointment to this post offers excellent experience of medical oncology for those wishing to pursue a career in this field. There is an active postgraduate teaching programme and all oncology trainees (or equivalent) are expected to attend. The department has a wide portfolio of clinical trials and an active clinical research programme. Post holders will work directly with one or more Consultant Oncologists and alongside other oncology specialist trainees. Experience in Medical Oncology at ST level is essential. All candidates should have full registration with the GMC and MRCP or equivalent is essential.

Main duties of the job

This is a full-time post based at UCH to start on 1 August 2025. The post is for 12 months with possibility of extending to 18-24 months. The post will involve an opportunity to work with the gastrointestinal medical oncology team and gain experience in clinical and trial management in a renowned tertiary cancer centre with multidisciplinary input and strong research interests.

Essential

  • Medical degree
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
  • GMC registration NB: Non-UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register by date of appointment having completed both PLAB1 & 2
  • Completed core medial training or equivalent
Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Clinical Governance framework of the NHS (including Research governance) and understanding of current changes in the organisation and management structures of the NHS. Ability to act within these parameters
Experience

  • Undergoing or completed higher specialist training in medical oncology
